So it’s Saturday morning and I’ve been up bright and early since 8:30am. In my workplace, we usually have drinks after work on Friday, so there’s often a Saturday morning that I can still be found sluggish and lazy first thing. This weekend, I decided that I wanted to try be a bit more productive. I’ve got a big list of things I’d like to get done, and as The Bulgarian has deadlines and won’t be around, I’ve got quite a bit of time to do it.
This morning’s task is sorting through my clothes and getting some items up on eBay. I’m sure many other girls will empathise with having an overstuffed closet, and after a new dress I bought arrived to work yesterday, I decided it was about time that I cull some of the items in my wardrobe. I’m terrible for being a bit of a pack rat, and tend to hang onto things that just don’t suit or fit me, either out of nostalgia or denial!
I’ve had this peach dress, for example, for about 4 years. I’ve probably worn it about four times. Peach does not suit me. I’m pale with blonde hair and I just look ridiculous in a peach dress. Someone brunette with lovely brown skin would look beautiful in this, but not my pasty self! However, I hung onto it because I loved the cute button details on the back and I just thought it was such a pretty dress. I’m trying to be a bit more ruthless now and just cut out anything I haven’t worn in awhile.
Living in Central London, I don’t have an awful lot of space, as you might imagine, but yet I seem to have amassed an extraordinary amount of things in my five years here. When I moved to London, I had one suitcase. Subsequent trips home brought back with them various objects I’d left behind, but yet it still amazes me just how much stuff I actually have.
This weekend, I’m going to do my best to clear out as much as I can and start making a bit more breathing room. I’m hoping it will be cathartic. Wish me luck!
